One of the most challenging projects that we’ve undertaken to date, working with After Hours Creative has been a blessing in disguise. The project was to film a cardiac surgery medical mission here in Nepal and there was some last minute change of plan. Because of this, we had to manage last-minute flights and accommodation to Pokhara while also gain permits from various government agencies including Nepal Film Development Boards.

Our client was very appreciative of our work and of our amazing crew, mostly the fixer. Russ Hann, the director for After Hours Creative personally has expressed his gratitude toward Ashish and Suresh, our crew members and shared that even the medical team they were working with commented positively on our team along with his clients who were impressed with the professionalism and reliability.

For this project, besides gaining permits and managing flights, transport and accommodation, we also worked towards clearing customs for their equipment. We ended the project being very satisfied with our job since the whole project ran smoothly and without any obstructions despite several challenges.

Our project with Mike Beech Films for the UK was a great learning experience for the whole team. We worked as the local production partner for a feature-length documentary and working with them, an accomplished film crew gave us an insight into the depths of filmmaking as a whole. At the same time, this project also proved to be a great opportunity to navigate our own work within ourselves.

From location scouting to doing logistics, we as the local producer managed most of the backend jobs for them. We also were able to help them with providing a few of the equipment as well as technicians and fixers.

According to Mike Beech himself, our founder Digbijaya Bharati ended up being a fantastic asset to our production and proved to be invaluable in the execution of their shoot in Nepal. He was impressed with their time together, as Digbijaya was able to solve several major issues that would have caused big problems for the team and assisted them greatly in the smooth completion of the project.

Who doesn’t get excited about being involved in a project about a serial killer? And what about working with a famous television host from the UK and world’s top criminologist? We definitely did when we realized our job was to help a filming crew from the UK, Monster Film Production, wanted to shoot in jail for a film about the world’s famous serial killer.

It was an overwhelming experience for all of us as not only we were excited to be part of such an interesting project, we were also anxious about meeting this serial killer who has fled multiple prisons globally. To be honest, we didn’t know what to expect out of the shoot and didn’t really care about it. The only thing we knew was that we were to shoot in the jail and we had to get access to the killer no matter what.

And that’s exactly what we did. Not only did we manage to get access and permits from the high-level government offices, but also managed to run the project smoothly. Our client was especially happy with how we were persistent and resourceful, despite the sensitive nature of the project that they were attempting to film. This project comes on top of all the projects we did in 2017.

Shooting in Nepal itself is a challenging job. From gaining permits to managing transportation, one needs to be alert while dealing with people, for these jobs. And when you’re trying to shoot burial, a process regarded as very sacred in almost all the religions in the world, you have to be extra careful not to offend anyone during the rituals, especially the bereaved family. And now add, doing this after a long journey to the altitude of 3840m in a region that needs special permits of any foreigners to enter. That’s what this project was all about.

The 15-day production work with Order Productions to shoot a burial process at Lo Manthang as a producer with our main line-producer was an amazing experience, where we as a team, feel that we’ve crossed another level of our journey. The pre-production period was spent in researching and developing the content on sky burial, a sacred ritual that happens only in the specific location of Lo Manthang. We also worked towards obtaining the special permits required by Non-Nepalis to enter this region, gain drone permits by coordinating with the Home Ministry, Ministry of Information and Communication, Ministry of Defense and Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal and managed the logistics of location scouting, transport and accommodation for the project.

This project is definitely one of our favorite projects to reminisce about.

Back in 2018, we worked with Innovative Immersions from the US on video production for NBC Sports and the University of Notre Dame. While Michael Cloonan, the President and the founder of Innovative Immersions worked as the Field Director for the project, we became were the local production team.

This particular film was covering a part of Moosa’s Madrasa Discourses project, a revolutionary concept that brings together scholars from traditional Islamic schools known as madrasas to enhance and improve the curricula taught at these institutions. In this part, 55 recent madrasa graduates who engage with Moosa and other faculty from Notre Dame, Jamia Milia Islamia in New Delhi of India, and GIFT University in Gujranwala of Pakistan met to discuss along with selected Notre Dame undergraduates, largely peace studies students who are mostly female.

During the project duration, we used to wake up early in the morning to get a good shot from various angles. We also had to readjust much of the schedules due to the weather condition and fully handled the shoot as well as logistics and the permits.
