Chitwan

Home to Chitwan National Park, the first national park of the country, Chitwan is more than just the jungle though (although the major part of it usually is in the jungle). From the Royal Bengal Tiger to the One Horned Rhinoceros, the lush green forest of the district has been attracting thousands of visitors every year who wants to experience the wildlife safari or learn more about the floras and faunas. But it’s not just the wildlife that attracts visitors. Chitwan is also home to Tharu community, an ethnic group living in the southern plains. The Tharu culture is vibrant with colorful clothes, wonderful dances and mind blowing tattoos. They rely mostly in farming and fishing hence their delicacies include snails and rice flour confectioner. On the other hand, their villages are a treat to tour at, with mud houses and decorations of items used during fishing. From the wonderful landscape of jungle and farmlands to the lifestyle of Tharu people and diverse flora-fauna, Chitwan is filled with adventure, and local life, making it one of the most popular destinations to visit, especially during winters.
